We invite you to join us at our first bi-annual practitioner forum which, following publication of new Multi-Agency Safeguarding Arrangements in Dec 2024, replaced our Annual Conference and learning events.
This forum is open to all practitioners working with children, young people, and families in Oxfordshire, and is focused on learning from recent safeguarding reviews undertaken locally.
Our keynote speaker is Kevin Ball, Independent Safeguarding Consultant, Chair, Scrutineer, Facilitator & Reviewer.
Kevin brings over 32 years of experience in children’s services, including roles in residential care, social work, inspection, and government advisory work. He is a skilled chair and independent reviewer of child safeguarding practice reviews, is on the national panel pool of reviewers, and works closely with a number of safeguarding partnerships. Kevin is passionate about delivering reviews that are clear, focused, and genuinely help improve safeguarding practice.
The agenda for this evert, includes the following:
- Learning from the child safeguarding practice review for Alice (pseudonym)
- An update on actions from the recommendations:
- Working with neglect
- Home visit guidance
- Escalation
- Scrutineer role
- Learning from rapid reviews for baby Alex and on physical harm and neglect
There will be opportunities for group discussions and reflection, activities on tables and networking throughout the day.
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided, and there is free parking on site.
